Industry-university connections pick up this fall

UW EAP in Milwaukee
Students and faculty from UW–Madison’s Energy Analysis and Policy (EAP) Program join OBE staff during a visit to Johnson Controls in Milwaukee

It’s been a busy fall for the Office of Business Engagement (OBE) and its corporate partners, with on and off-campus meetings focused on sustainability, engineering research, genomic innovations, talent, and—of course—Badger football.

In September, OBE partnered with UW–Madison’s Energy Analysis and Policy Program during a trip to Milwaukee. The trip included visits to Johnson Controls, Artisan Partners, and the City of Milwaukee’s Environmental Collaboration Office. Conversations focused on careers, innovations and industry trends.

Over Homecoming weekend, OBE and colleagues in the College of Letters & Science and College of Engineering hosted long-time corporate partners Thermo Fisher Scientific and Kohler as they enjoyed a tailgate and watched the Badgers football team take on Purdue.

“Building these relationships with corporate partners – being able to understand their needs and establish campus connections – is fundamental to the work we do,” said OBE Managing Director John Garnetti. “We have so much expertise at UW–Madison, with such engaged internal partners, these visits are an important way to explore what opportunities exist.”
