UW–Madison connects with Japanese leaders on biohealth, engineering, and emerging technologies

UW–Madison continued to strengthen its relationships with Japanese industry partners through two recent engagements focused on engineering, technology, and the rapidly growing biohealth field. Earlier this month, a delegation of 23 leaders representing 19 Japanese companies visited Madison and Milwaukee to learn more about Wisconsin’s biohealth ecosystem.

Their visit included conversations with university researchers, business-matching sessions, and stops at key organizations, including Exact Sciences, Promega, GE HealthCare, and the UW School of Medicine and Public Health. Highlighting Wisconsin’s growing visibility as a biohealth hub, the visit was organized by the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) and supported by the UW–Madison Office of Business Engagement, the School of Medicine and Public Health, WEDC, and the Japan America Society of Wisconsin (JASWI).

UW–Madison also hosted the UW–Japan Engineering and Technology Forum in October in partnership with JASWI and JETRO. Chancellor Jennifer Mnookin opened the program, which brought together Japanese and U.S. companies to discuss shared interests in quantum and AI technology, advanced manufacturing, and clean energy. Participants engaged with faculty and students from the College of Engineering, the Department of Physics, and CDIS. More about the Forum from the College of Engineering.
